laying out the wool....no rhyme, no reason, no specific layers, it all just evolved as I went....I did not plan to put the pink-green and yellow on it just seemed right....I know I should be more precise and methodical but if I did that....I would not create......I do not want methodical....I want serendipity......and it happens.....

Mixing and spinning fibers....Now I am mixing colors and fabric and examining how them come out when wet felted. Every project is one step closer to understanding the magic of wool.....Taking it slow and easy and playing with the wool.....I like the way the colors blended....but....I still have not found "MY" scarf yet.....The one that speaks to me over and over and has a life of it's own no matter how I put it on.... That design will come.....sometime and I will know it when it does.....So....will just keep felting on.....Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.....

for my taste the scarf was too wide so I did some stitching with gold thread to make the width smaller

In the first picture, what I see is that I am going to embellish on the mohair circles where I placed a cross bar of prefelt for interest. The picture says the centers need to be embellished. I always see better from a picture I take than from the actual creation.....

Third Vest and why am I doing this?

First of all, the vest is not done....It still needs to be fulled completely.....and then there are the raglan sleeves....Still need to be tweaked.....This time I lengthened the pattern by six inches so I do not have a bolero like the first one I did....The next one I do I might alter the sleeves....Not liking them....Any suggestions??? In the fourth picture, I have turned the sleeves up and they match the turned down collar..... Do you like the sleeves turned up or left down???

It's hard to explain how I did this layout......First of all white prefelt cut into the pattern. Then more prefelt cut ups in the color way you see laid down and then I made the mistake of cutting tencel and putting in on instead of wisping it on....wont do that again and laid some mohair glitter yarn on and then the grand finale....I had black merino/silk that I had laid out on another material that did not felt so I peeled it up and let it dry and then I used those peelings to lay over the felt cut-ups. It seems to make it look stained glass or mosaic. The inside is a merino blend "fern wood" brownish with some green.....Will post final pictures after I rub it more and more and more......and then to contemplate a closure.....hmmmmm.....Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.....

oh, and to answer the question???? why am I doing these vests???? I don't have a clue.... they are time consuming but I seem compelled for some reason.....So...I will just go with the flow.....for now....

You plop something on your head, it's functional, it keeps the rain off your face, it warms your head, IT'S BORING.....totally, instantly boring and easy and safe......Well Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear Halo Hats are not easy, they are not boring and they are NOT SAFE. They require GUTS to wear, and to express one's true self always requires GUTS....It's easy to follow and blend....it is more difficult to stand out and Yell....I AM....Because....I CAN.....p.s.....I HATE baseball caps....on women.....

Took A Nehru long jacket I had and made a pattern and then cut the yardage into the pattern. However....not enough yardage to get the length I wanted. So I marked the pattern and took prefelt and extended the right and left front and the back....However I had to match the upper design....So I laid out green and raspberry cheese cloth, patches of left over non-felted material, tencel and black wool on the prefelt and felted it to the short vest....Then I thought I would throw it in the dryer to full it some more with tennis balls....Pulled it out and thought I was done but I wasn't...the added prefelt was not felted enough, so I soaped it up again and proceeded to full some more. Finally it was done.....I could go into detail of all the stitching and fitting and cutting, and manipulating and fussing to get it to fit right on me but finally the country farm girl became:

Inspired by the recent blog on Pendleton Woolen Mills Outlet about using scraps....Well...I buy scraps from the outlet and then I have scraps from my india gauze skirts I use in my wet felting. This past Saturday a young woman came by my booth at the Farmers Market and was trying on my hats but she wanted some more simple....I really do not do simple.....I do wild and crazy and outrageous and big....well you get the picture.....But I came up with a sort of compromise. These are my new Rosiewildwoman "Wild Kerchiefs"....recycled pendleton wool, india gauze skirts, sewing and voila....you will keep your ears warm on the beach or the slopes and look awesome at the same time.....

The Lincoln County Fairgrounds Farmers Market had a new vendor this Saturday, Moonshine Park Fish Company. I had to buy some fresh frozen Albacore Tuna....

Just finished this meal with the recipe below.....Oh my gosh.....The tuna is outrageously wonderful.....

Sesame Encrusted Albacore with Apricot Glaze
1 Oregon Albacore tuna loinSalt & pepper to taste
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1/4 cup sesame oil
3 tbsp shallots, minced
1 tbsp butter
1/2 cup apricot jam
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp fresh cilantro, choppedPinch red pepper flakes
Season the tuna loin with salt & pepper. Roll the whole loin in the sesame seeds, gently pressingthe seeds into the meat, until well coated.
Add the sesame oil to a large heavy pan over high heat. When the oil is very hot, lay the tunaloin in it carefully so as not to splash. Sear the loin on all sides until the sesame seeds turn goldenbrown. Remove the tuna from the pan and set aside to cool.
In a saucepan over medium high heat, sauté the shallots in the butter until they begin tocaramelize and turn golden. Reduce the heat and add the apricot jam, balsamic, cilantro and thered pepper flakes. Continue to cook until the jam is fully melted and everything is wellincorporated. Set aside over very low heat, stirring occasionally.
When the tuna is cool enough to handle, cut it into 1-2 inch thick rounds. Place the rounds on agrill or in a pan over medium high heat. Cook for 1 minute on each side, basting carefully withthe apricot glaze so as not to dislodge too many of the seeds. Serve immediately.
Serves 3-4

Great Inspiration for creating with art yarn from Neauveau Fibers, sari silk ribbon, bamboo silk yarn, and several mixed commercial yarns all closed with a ceramic heart button

but the piece d'resistance was this acrylic knitted scarf embellished with small sequins and was 3 panels pieced together with holes in the design.....begging to be filled with carded merino and angelina wool and spikes at each end.....Naturally the wool is not going to stick to the acrylic...but...it sticks to itself and the spikes and when it shrinks it shortens the scarf....but....it needed something more....watercolored purple scarf stripped out and fed through the holes 3 strips....pulled and you have a ruffled cowl and bow....let out and you have a ruffled wrap....You choose......Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.......

Oh my gosh....what should I do with the holes....fill them with wool of course!!!!

Ashley Martineau's art batt "Rome" spun and plied with a turquoise/red accent yarn and then free-form crocheted into a "Dreadfully Wild Halo Hat/Neck Wrap Combo with matching art yarn earrings.....

and then today I layed out a black pre-felt and arranged black and white silk on it draping the silk over each end and wet felted that with the magic sander into a Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear scarf with hair clip accent closure....

I am thinking I will fabric paint the turned over collar on this....probably with circles......

and then today I took a chocolate brown pre-felt and laid out an art batt on both sides and wet felted it with the magic sander....No material in this....just incredible types of fiber that was in the batt....I saved enough of the batt to spin some art yarn and I also constructed a flower that somehow will be intertwined with the art yarn once I spin it.....Will follow up with that later....

Taking felting to another level....surface design, nuno felt on nuno felt, a lotus flower hair clip that can be moved anywhere on the creation or placed in your hair....right now it is on the shoulder....pull out the scalloped edges around the neckline

and then the back......it's an ahaaaa moment and the nuno felt on nuno felt pops.....all will be stitched down with decorative stitching......there are no failures just happy journeys....Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear.....

size 4X polyester victorian looking blouse

applied carded wool and angelina to both sides of each side using resist.....fulled down to a size 16 front side..had my husband help with sliding the resist in with wool on it

on the back I tried to do it myself and the wool slid down on the top plus I was impatient in rolling the back side which is a bad habit on mine.....but....I have scraps I am now felting and I will do some surface design at the top which will be cosmetic as well as unique to the design which can tend to be ordinary if it was just felted like anyone can do.....Rosiewildwoman Art to Wear

So....today....I could no resist this wedding gown in the Halloween section for $9.99....The pink flower lace netting, puff sleeves, crinoline, satin, trails of white flowers.....what can I do with this and wool???? Spent all day felting incredible yellow sequin and bugle bead encrusted silk fabric, then it just said strip up that pale golden-yellow silk material and punch holes in the felt and crochet the silk strips into the felted yellow sequin and bugle bead encrusted silk fabric. It's still talking and doesnt know what it wants to be when it grows up. I'm waiting to see

Something I have wanted to try....Fabric Beads....Some colorful fabric adhered to blotter paper and then rolled into beads....then decorated with different colored pens, alcohol ink, krylon gold pen, luminere paints, the kitchen sink....whatever feels GOOD!

Extra fine merino wool with polyester accents is scrumbled (freeform crochet) into a long band which is then wrapped, twisted and molded into a headband which is then scrumbled somemore with a matching textured yarn. No Rules....no pattern....just creating as I go.....It's a WILD Scrumble Hat!

Mixed Media Halo Hat Some adorable wool locks in two shades of brown are spun and then knitted together.. The Rosiewildwoman Halo Hat is then created by combining the knitted wool locks with crocheted sari silk. The entire band encases the head in texture and color. If your hair matches, you can not tell where the hair begins and the Halo Hat ends....If your hair does not match the Halo Hat will be a total focus....I like it both ways but I like and wear all my Halo Hats!

Look at the marvelous scarf I won!!!!! It was Heather's birthday and she decided to give away two of her incredible scarves. I won my choice in a random drawing. The coincidence is beyond belief because I have been currently working in peaches and orange and had just finished a Rosiewildwoman Halo Hat and it matches perfectly. How cool is that???? I guess I won't be selling this particular Halo Hat.

An original Wildwoman Creation. Felted Wool and vintage Chiffon scarf Neck wrap. Wet felted and needle felted accents and embellished with an original Wildwoman Creation pin/button closure. Created with a wool mixture. The wool has tooth to it and if sensitive to wool, I would suggest wearing over a turtleneck or coat. I love the feel and the texture , but it is not for everyone.

Felted Wool and Vintage Lace Fascinator

From Winipedia: A fascinator is a headpiece, a style of millinery. The word originally referred to a fine, lacy head covering akin to a shawl and made from wool or lace. The term had fallen almost into disuse by the 1970s.[1]

In the early 21st century, the term has made a comeback, but the meaning has slightly changed; it is now used to describe a delicate, slightly-to-very frivolous head decoration worn almost exclusively by women. A fascinator may be worn instead of a hat to occasions where hats were traditionally worn -- such as weddings -- or as an evening accessory, when it may be called a cocktail hat. It is generally worn with fairly formal attire.

Modern fascinators are commonly made with feathers, flowers and/or beads. They attach to the hair by a comb, headband or clip. They are particularly popular at premium horse-racing events, such as the Grand National and the Melbourne Cup. Brides may choose to wear them as an alternative to a bridal veil or hat, particularly if their gowns are non-traditional.
